Tyanna A. E. Clayton-Mallett
Graduate Assistant
Tyanna graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies from Marquette University. Tyanna served in two AmeriCorps Programs-Public Allies and Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) working with youth and assisting with community development efforts. She also served two terms as a Health, Water, and Sanitation Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa.
Tyanna has over 15 years of experience working in higher education. Most recently, Tyanna served as the Assistant Director of Service Learning at Marquette University. While working full-time at Marquette University, she received her Masters of Education degree in Student Affairs in Higher in Education in May of 2021. Currently Tyanna is pursuing a PhD in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. Her research interests include higher education institution's community engagement practices, Black/African history, graduate school orientation and training, and peer mentoring networks among graduate school students.
When Tyanna is not writing for her PhD, she is giving tours at the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the National Museum of American History. She also likes to go line dancing.
