WHO WE ARE
The University of Maryland’s Center for Community Engagement connects the resources and talents of the university, people and communities, and facilitates connections and partnerships to support impact-driven and community-centered research, teaching and service that advances the public good.
What we do
- Collaborate with our surrounding communities by developing mutually-beneficial partnerships to facilitate meaningful and sustainable change in College Park, Prince George’s County, the state of Maryland and beyond
- Advance community-engaged research, teaching and learning by supporting and training our instructors and researchers to develop community, place and land-based approaches centered on trust, authenticity and reciprocity
- Inspire a campus wide culture to Do Good by expanding opportunities across all colleges, schools, divisions and units for individuals who want to make a social impact
- Amplify and expand our reach by documenting the university’s impact across communities to find and celebrate opportunities for engagement, collaboration and partnerships
How we do it
For community partners, faculty, and staff, we:
- Provide professional development and training
- Distribute resources
- Facilitate partnership connections
- Advocate for supportive policies and practices
